Wed. 1/28 & Thurs. 1/29/26, 6pm-10pm

Two 4-hour classroom sessions provide a strong foundation in safe boating and is required for anyone operating a motorized watercraft in NY State. Taught by experienced, certified instructors, this course focuses on information to keep you safe and legally compliant on the water.

PREREQUISITE: None
SKILL LEVEL: All levels
AGES: 10 & up

CERTIFICATIONS: American Red Cross (ARC) Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Certification

PREREQUISITE: Participants must first complete the online portion of this course (which may take up to 3 hours) before attending the in-person class.

AGES: 13 and up

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE: Anyone who is looking to learn to operate a powerboat safely and improve on-the-water boat handling skills in an on-the-water, hands-on driving course and already has their State-Specific Boating Safety Certification.

Become a US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Instructor! In this 3-day course for advanced powerboat operators who will operate boats 26 feet and under, instructor candidates will learn the fundamentals of on-the-water instruction. Click above for more info.

CERTIFICATIONS: Maritime College Launch Tender license & US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Cert.

PREREQUISITE: None prior to taking the course; you must meet requirements for USCG license application

SKILL LEVEL: All levels

AGES: 17 to attend, 18 to apply for the license

Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification not expired longer than 30 days.

Recertification will include Lifeguarding Skills as well as CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid 2-Year Certification
