WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE: Anyone who is looking to learn to operate a powerboat safely and improve on-the-water boat handling skills in an on-the-water, hands-on driving course and already has their State-Specific Boating Safety Certification. 

CERTIFICATIONS: US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Certification

PREREQUISITE: None

SKILL LEVEL: All levels

AGES: 10 years old & up
 

CERTIFICATIONS: American Red Cross (ARC) Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Certification

PREREQUISITE: Participants must first complete the online portion of this course (which may take up to 3 hours) before attending the in-person class.

AGES: 13 and up

Wed. 1/28 & Thurs. 1/29/26, 6pm-10pm

Two 4-hour classroom sessions provide a strong foundation in safe boating and is required for anyone operating a motorized watercraft in NY State. Taught by experienced, certified instructors, this course focuses on information to keep you safe and legally compliant on the water.

The US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Instructor Course is designed to provide sailing instructors with information on how to teach more safely, effectively, and creatively. WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE: Anyone looking to work as a launch driver & earn their certification in a hands-on driving course

CERTIFICATIONS: Maritime College Launch Tender license & US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Cert.

PREREQUISITE: None prior to taking the course; you must meet requirements for USCG license application

SKILL LEVEL: All levels

AGES: 17 to attend, 18 to apply for the license
