COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is the entry-level certification course is for individuals wishing to learn the fundamentals of proper breath hold diving for the purpose of increasing underwater awareness and enjoyment. The PADI Freediver course is an introduction to open water Freediving skills and techniques to depths in between 10m-16m / 30'-55’ are practiced with the program also encompassing static and dynamic apnea as introductory or stand-alone disciplines.

You will learn:

  • Essential safety procedures for breath-holding at Freediver Level
  • Proper breathing techniques for freediving
  • Confined water skill development
  • Open water skill development
  • Equalization for depth diving
  • Equipment for freediving
  • The fundamental physics and physiology of freediving
  • INCLUDED IN THE COURSE

    • 3 Classroom Sessions & 3 Pool Sessions
    • Traditional mask, snorkel, wetsuit, fins, weight belt and weights are provided. If you have your own equipment you are encouraged to use it, especially if you have specialized freediving equipment .

    • PADI Freediver certification

    STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE

    • Bathing suit
    • Towel
    • a bottom timing device - a freediving computer is preferred. However, just a watch with stopwatch would be fine such as a GShock or Timex Ironman watch.

    PREREQUISITES

    Students must know how to swim and have good overall health:

    • Participants under age 18 must have signed, parental consent. Parents must be present for ALL portions of the course. Minimum age is 15 years.
    • Students must complete the PADI Medical History Questionnaire. Certain conditions may require a physician’s pre-approval to dive. If a student answers “Yes” to ANY question on the PADI Medical History Questionnaire, the student MUST have the form signed by a physician giving his or her approval for the student to participate in freediving.

    CANCELATION/REFUND POLICY

    Due to the popularity of diving courses, instructor schedules and issued materials the following policies are in place:

    • 1. No refund of the scuba course fee will be possible for any reason after the third session of the class.
    • 2. Scuba Fee refunds prior to the third session of the class will be based on the following refund schedule:
    • i. Prior to Class Session #1 = Full Fee minus $25
    • ii. Prior to Class Session #2 = Full Fee minus $50
    • iii. Prior to Class Session #3 = Full Fee minus $100
    • 3. Refunds must be cleared with your instructor and final approval will come from the Scuba Department.
