Open Water Dives:

  • Saturday November 23, 2024 8:00am-3:00pm Tigertail Lake
  • Sunday November 24, 2024 8:00am-3:00pm Charter Dive Boat

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Open Water Diver is an entry-level, non-credit course for people who wish to become certified scuba divers. It provides a comprehensive overview of basic skills and academics that are required to safely participate in scuba diving activities. This course contains three areas of training: academic (classroom sessions), confined water (pool sessions) and open water dives (lake and ocean dives).

INCLUDED IN THE COURSE

  • PADI Open Water Diver Crew Pack (student folder, textbook, logbook)
  • Classroom Sessions and 6 Pool Sessions
  • 4 Open Water Dives (lake dive fees and ocean dive boat fees)
  • Use of ALL equipment throughout the course (mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, tanks, regulator, buoyancy compensator, weights, dive bag, compass and dive computer)
  • PADI Open Water Diver certification card

STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE

  • Nothing

PREREQUISITES

Students must know how to swim and have good overall health:

  • Students will perform a watermanship evaluation consisting of a 200 meter/yard continuous swim without the use of swim aids followed by a 10-minute water tread. Goggles may be worn during the watermanship evaluation.
  • Students must complete the PADI Medical History Questionnaire. Certain conditions may require a physician’s pre-approval to dive. If a student answers “Yes” to ANY question on the PADI Medical History Questionnaire, the student MUST have the form signed by a physician giving his or her approval for the student to participate in scuba diving.
  • Use of ALL equipment throughout the course (mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, tanks, regulator, buoyancy compensator, weights, dive bag, compass and dive computer)
  • Participants under age 18 must have signed, parental consent. Parents must be present for ALL portions of the course - classroom, pool sessions and open water dive trips - if the participant is not a NSU student.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY

Due to the popularity of scuba courses, instructor schedules and issued materials the following policies are in place:

  • 1. No refund of the scuba course fee will be possible for any reason after the third session of the class.
  • 2. Scuba Fee refunds prior to the third session of the class will be based on the following refund schedule:
  • i. Prior to Class Session #1 = Full Scuba Fee minus $25
  • ii. Prior to Class Session #2 = Full Scuba Fee minus $50
  • iii. Prior to Class Session #3 = Full Scuba Fee minus $100
  • 3. Refunds must be cleared with your instructor and final approval will come from the Scuba Department.
