Two Tank Boat Dive in Fort Lauderdale

Trip Description

This is a two-tank boat dive open to all NSU Scuba Club members. These dives will be conducted on Florida’s artificial reef program, which is one of the favorite dive spots of the NSUADP staff. The first dive will be on a wreck with a max depth of 70-feet. Our second dive will be on 2nd reef with a max depth of 35 feet. There will be an appropriate surface interval between the two dives depending on our profile.

We will be diving with the American Dream II Dive Charters. The boat departs at 8:30 a.m. You must arrive at the American Dream NO LATER THAN 8:00 a.m. There is no dive shop for The Dream. The boat is parked at a slip and is approximately a 30 minute drive from Main Campus.

NOTE: Due to heavy boat traffic in the area, dive flags are required for each dive group, and divers MUST stay with their dive flag.

Itinerary

• 6:45 a.m. Gear check out at NSU Dive Locker
• 7:30 a.m. Depart campus
• 8:00 a.m. Arrive at American Dream dive charter
• 8:30 a.m. Boat departs
• 12:30 p.m. Expected Boat return
• Equipment check-in will be on Sunday after the dives at a time to be determined by your Dive Supervisors.

Reservation/Payment

This boat trip is half price for NSU Scuba Club members. The cost is $42.50 and it is also recommended that you bring about $10 to $20 for a tip. The crew works very hard to ensure the divers enjoy the dive trip as much as possible while also mitigating any safety hazards that may present themselves. You may register for the trip up until 12:00 p.m. on Friday February 9th, 2024. Spots available for this trip is 23 divers! Register right away.

• Cash to tip the boat crew. Between $10-$20 is customary.

Location and Parking

American Dream Dive Charter, 88 Portside Drive, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33316 If you are coming from NSU Main Campus, give yourself about a 30 minute drive time to get there on time. From I-95 take I-595 East for 3 miles to US-1 North. Proceed on US-1 North for 2 miles to SE 17St. Turn right at SE 17th St for 1 mile to Eisenhower Blvd. Turn left at Eisenhower Blvd. Immediately turn right onto Grande Drive. Turn left on Portside Dr. Proceed to end. Arrive at the dock. When using GPS or mapping software the best address to use is 88 Portside Dr. Fort Lauderdale Fl 33316. Please DO NOT park in or block the pilot spots even just to drop off your gear. They are marked on the wheel stops to ensure you do not get them confused with the allowed parking spots. Please CARPOOL and arrive early!

Equipment

NSU and the boat will provide tanks. Any other equipment you need will be issued from the NSUADP Dive Locker. We will be issuing scuba equipment from the NSUADP Dive-Locker the morning of the trip from 6:45 am to 7:30 am. If you do not need any rental gear, you may meet at the dive boat. Equipment check-in will be after the dives at a time to be determined by your Dive Supervisors. Reminder – if you bring your own BC, regulator, and/or tank you must provide proof that the gear was either purchased or inspected by an authorized dive center within one year.

Cancellation Policy

You may only cancel and get refunded for this trip PRIOR TO 5:00 pm on Friday, February 9th. Please contact the Dive Supervisor to let us know if you have to cancel the morning of the trip. Otherwise, contact Kate at kh1857@nova.edu to cancel.
