Open Water Dives:

  • Saturday January 27th, 2024 8:00am-3:00pm Tigertail Lake
  • Sunday January 28th, 2024 12:00pm-5:00pm Charter Dive Boat
  • Saturday February 3rd, 2024 6:00pm-10:00pm Charter Dive Boat Night Dive

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Advanced Open Water Diver is for certified scuba divers who wish to expand their knowledge and improve their diving skills and techniques through a variety of diving environments and activities. The six open water dives give the student experience in the specialty areas of Deep, Wreck, Underwater Naturalist, Search & Recovery, Navigation and Night. What makes this NSU Academic Diving Program course unique is the ability to have more academic and pool time than the majority of scuba shop classes in South Florida, yet with a great value. This curriculum builds truly advanced divers that are strong, comfortable and competent possessing great diving skills and knowledge.

INCLUDED IN THE COURSE

  • PADI Adventures in Diving Manual and Slates
  • 3 Classroom Sessions & 3 Pool Sessions
  • 6 Open Water Dives (4 ocean boat dives and 2 lake dives)
  • Use of all scuba equipment throughout the course (wetsuit, tanks, regulator, buoyancy compensator, weights, dive bag, compass, primary dive light, backup dive light and dive computer)
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification card

STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE

  • Mask, Snorkel and Fins
  • Log Book, Surface Marker Buoy, Whistle, Wreck Reel (100' minimum), Underwater Slate & Pencil, Dive Knife or Cutting Tool
  • Tips for boat crew

PREREQUISITES

Students must know how to swim and have good overall health:

  • Certified as a PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent certification from another certification organization.
  • Have Dive Accident Insurance with Divers Alert Network (or equivalent) at the Master level or higher. Click here to get insurance DAN Diving Accident Insurance
  • Students must complete the PADI Medical History Questionnaire. Certain conditions may require a physician’s pre-approval to dive. If a student answers “Yes” to ANY question on the PADI Medical History Questionnaire, the student MUST have the form signed by a physician giving his or her approval for the student to participate in scuba diving.
  • Participants under age 18 must have signed, parental consent. Parents must be present for ALL portions of the course.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY

Due to the popularity of scuba courses, instructor schedules and issued materials the following policies are in place:

  • 1. No refund of the scuba course fee will be possible for any reason after the third session of the class.
  • 2. Scuba Fee refunds prior to the third session of the class will be based on the following refund schedule:
  • i. Prior to Class Session #1 = Full Scuba Fee minus $25
  • ii. Prior to Class Session #2 = Full Scuba Fee minus $50
  • iii. Prior to Class Session #3 = Full Scuba Fee minus $100
  • 3. Refunds must be cleared with your instructor and final approval will come from the Scuba Department.
