All Professional Education Program Workshops

The Professional Education Program (PEP) offers high quality continuing education for social workers. Our CE granting workshops cover a wide range of topic areas, including Clinical, Cultural and Social Competence, Ethics, and Clinical Supervision. For workshops that are held on our beautiful campus, parking is free, and lunch is provided at full day events.

All continuing education hours (CEs) are provided by the Monmouth University School of Social Work in accordance with New Jersey Administrative Code 13:44G and are recognized by the New Jersey Board of Social Work Examiners.

  • 2 General CE - Research suggests that older adults are at a higher risk for significant grief complications and challenges. This workshop will explore grief and loss through the lens of aging. We will consider risk factors and types of losses specific to older adults, review grief theories for older adults and explore several interventions for assessing and engaging in grief work.

  • 5 Clinical CE - Join us for a 5-hour in-person training exploring Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory and its relevance to therapeutic work. We will cover the three core principles of PVT (hierarchy, neuroception, and co-regulation) as taught by Deb Dana, and introduce accessible tools to support client regulation. Participants will leave with a foundational understanding of the autonomic nervous system and experiential practices for trauma-informed care.

  • 5 Clinical CE - This 5-hour intermediate workshop expands on foundational Polyvagal Theory concepts with a focus on clinical application and experiential learning. Participants will practice regulation-based interventions, refine skills in assessing autonomic states, and develop strategies to enhance co-regulation and safety in therapy. Designed for clinicians with prior PVT knowledge, this training blends theory, demonstration, and guided practice to deepen clinical effectiveness.

  • Interested in supervising colleagues on the path to their LCSW? This workshop has been approved by the NJ Board of Social Work Examiners as satisfying the 20 hours of post-graduate course work necessary to becoming a clinical supervisor. You must be present for each day of the workshop to receive credit. This workshop is in person and lunch is included.
