The Professional Ethics of Self-Care - Monday, June 10, 2024

Workshop Description:

This engaging workshop will focus on the crucial intersection of ethics and professional well-being. As social workers, we understand the importance of professional self-care to better serve those in need but can be easily thwarted by the demands of our challenging work environments. This experiential workshop will review the NASW Code of Ethics revisions to self-care, highlight the ethical responsibility of maintaining adequate self-care practices, and equip participants with practical self-care strategies for enhanced professional sustainability. Participants will elevate their social work practice through the power of self-care, leaving with a toolkit of practical and effective strategies that can be tailored to individual needs.

Workshop Objectives
  1. Define the meaning of professional self-care
  2. Explain the 2021 NASW Code of Ethics revisions related to self-care
  3. Describe the impacts of stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout on professional effectiveness and well-being
