ALDOT Technician Training Program

Students that have completed one of the ALDOT Technician Training courses but failed the written exam with a score between 74-60 are eligible to retake the written exam one additional time within 60 calendar days of the failed exam. All retakes are held at NCAT's main facility in Auburn, AL. Please email Vinnie Gammons at vinnie@eng.auburn.edu to schedule a date and time.

This is a four-day classroom and laboratory course that takes place over two half-days and three full days. The emphasis is the accomplishment of the test procedures necessary to control the quality of asphalt pavements.
The Radiation Safety course is a prerequisite for this course.

This is a two and a half day course consisting of classroom instruction and case studies. The objective is to give technicians an understanding of what is needed to ensure quality construction of various earthwork and base courses.

This is a one-day classroom course (typically takes place over two half-days). The objective is to ensure that individuals who will use nuclear density gauges and nuclear asphalt content gauges understand the appropriate safety procedures with the gauges.

This is a one-day classroom course (typically takes place over two half-days) designed to train designated individuals in proper procedures for conducting and documenting a radiation safety program.

This is a one-and-a-half-day classroom course that gives entry-level technicians a basic understanding of asphalt paving projects with limited coverage of specifications, calculations, and best practices for quality pavements.

The Radiation Safety course is a prerequisite for this course.

This course is a prerequisite for the Roadway Technician Level 2 and Asphalt Technician Level 1 course.

This course that takes places over 2 half-days and 2 full days. The objective is to give technicians an understanding of specification requirements and construction practices to ensure quality construction of asphalt pavements.
