ALDOT Radiation Safety Course (FY 25-26)

This is a one-day classroom course (typically takes place over two half-days). The objective is to ensure that individuals who will use nuclear density gauges and nuclear asphalt content gauges understand the appropriate safety procedures with the gauges. Topics to be covered include: the health hazards of the radioactive materials; the pertinent rules and regulations of the Radiological Safety Manual and the State of Alabama Radiation Protection Regulations published by the State of Alabama Department of Public Health, Bureau of Environmental Health; and the manufacturer's instructions for the gauge being used.

This course is a prerequisite to the Earthwork/Base Technician, Roadway Technician Level 1, Roadway Technician Level 2, Asphalt Technician Level I, and Radiation Safety Officer courses.
