All individuals seeking teacher certification in the State of Michigan are required to hold valid adult and child CPR and First Aid certifications recognized by either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Plan ahead, enroll in one of the weekend classes offered by the Department of Human Performance and Health Education or seek this certification at another location of your choice. Remember, both your CPR and your FA certifications must be current when you apply for your teaching certificate.

Conveniently located in the Student Recreation Center, weekend classes are offered during ONE DAY sessions. Classes will be taught by certified American Red Cross instructors and include child and adult training. Class fee is $70.00 for CPR/AED & First Aid. Class fee is $55 for CPR/AED only and for First Aid only certification, the class fee is $40.00. Enrollment is limited and must be prepaid (NO refunds) - sign up for the class of your choice today!

Classes are located in room 3014 of Western Michigan University's Student Recreation Center (SRC). **IMPORTANT INFORMATION, PLEASE READ BEFORE PROCEEDING** You will first "add to cart" the CPR/AED & First Aid class for $70. This takes you to the next page to select one of the three class options. The cost is automatically calculated to match the exact class you need. Also, if a class is full, a message of "item no longer available" will appear and you will need to select another date - class sizes are limited. In addition, you cannot "continue shopping" due to only having the ability to select ONE COURSE. And...you cannot pay for two registrations if you and a friend/family want to attend together. Registrations are made individually. Please contact the HPHE office at 269.387.2710 with questions.
