The WSBA Public Interest Program provides a stipend for qualifying students who work in unpaid public interest legal jobs during the summer months. In the past, students who have received funding from this program have worked for Public Defenders, the ACLU of Kansas, the Kansas Attorney General’s Office, and more. Your contribution will help support Washburn Law students performing vital public interest work and gaining valuable experience this summer.
If you are interested in assisting, we greatly appreciate monetary donations or items and/or services for our annual charity auction held as part of Barristers’ Ball, scheduled this year for April 5, 2024. If you have any questions or would like to donate items and/or services for our auction, please contact Carissa Occhipinto at carissa.occhipinto@washburn.edu.
Note: Donations are tax-deductible under Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code, as a charitable contribution for a public purpose to a public university. Information from the Washburn University General Counsel regarding charitable contributions states the following: “Washburn University of Topeka is a political subdivision of the state of Kansas organized and existing under Kansas law, K.S.A. 13-13a03 et seq.
