Codes and Crypto with Scotty Polston
Codes, ciphers, and cryptograms have historically been used to deceive, inveigle, and obfuscate information. Recent history has relegated these crypto mechanisms to puzzles, quests, alternate reality games (ARG), and other forms of fun. You do not need any special skills to get started with codes and ciphers, as we will be covering many of the techniques used throughout history. Portions of the course will involve deciphering/decoding messages and exploring how modern cryptography still utilizes some of these methods. The ultimate goal is to introduce you to the fun of codes and ciphers, and how they are still used today. Oh, and this description has a hidden message in it.
