Beginner Knitting: Making Chausson Slippers

Learn and practice the basics of knitting while making a pair of cozy slipper socks.

Casting On
Knit Stitch
Purl Stitch
K2 Tog Decrease
Knit1 Purl1 Ribbing
Binding off
Seaming
Pattern Reading

We will also discuss fiber characteristics and care, where to find patterns and resources, and project planning and troubleshooting.

Please note: Some hand strength and dexterity are required.  

Provided Supplies: Pattern, Caron "Macchiato Cakes" yarn (see photo), knitting needles, and tapestry needle provided or bring your own! Detailed supply list will be provided at sign-up.

If you’d like to customize your slippers with a specific color scheme, feel free to bring your own supplies.

Recommended Supplies (optional):
  • US 10/6 mm 10-inch straight knitting needles OR
  • US 10/6 mm Circular needle between 16 and 36 inches
  • About 400 yards of a bulky weight yarn (No. 5)
  • Yarn/tapestry needle
Suggestions:  You may also wish to bring the following:
  • Project bag
  • Tape measure
  • Pencil or pen
