Saddle uo for a true taste of the cowpokelife! You'll start with basic horse handling, including grooming, tacking up, and leading. You'll recieve help with mounting and sitting on the horse, then learn to steer, stop, and signal the horse to walk. It's a day of ranching and roaming the great outdoors, perfect for folks looking for an authentic southern country adventure.


WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM?
Participants must be Students, Faculty or Staff of the University of Mississippi.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE TRIP COST?
The trip cost includes most expenses. We will provide you with round-trip ground transportation, campsite meals, all gear rentals, camping fees, and outfitter/guide fees. The only things you need are clothes, money for meals while traveling, and snacks, unless otherwise noted above.

DO I PROVIDE MY OWN TRANSPORTATION?
No, all trips include round-trip ground transportation, unless otherwise noted on the trip registration page. Campus Recreation owns departmental vehicles that we drive to and from the location. On rare occasions, we may fly to farther destinations, but that cost will be noted on the trip page.

WHAT TIME DO WE DEPART AND RETURN TO OXFORD?
Weekend trips usually depart from the South Campus Recreation Center on Friday afternoon after students finish class, and usually return Sunday afternoon or evening. Since we drive to our locations, we want to make sure we are not getting there too late, but we are willing to work with everyone! Day trips usually depart in the morning and return late afternoon/evening. The trips leaders will discuss departure/arrival times at the pre-trip meeting.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I REGISTER?
You will be emailed trip information and a link to an online form that you must complete one week before the trip/clinic date. Weekend and extended trips will have a pre-trip meeting, typically the Wednesday before the date of the trip. The trip leaders will contact you beforehand to remind you of the time and date. At that meeting, they will go over the itinerary, departure/arrival times, and other crucial info. Also, you are encouraged to contact them at any time with questions about the trip.

DO I NEED TO HAVE MY OWN GEAR?
No, Outdoors provides all technical gear for our trips; if specialty gear is needed, we will rent from an outfitter and that will be included in the trip cost.

LIABILITY & HEALTH HISTORY:
All trip participants are required to fill out an online liability waiver and health history form. This will be emailed to you once you register for the trip. Health insurance is recommended but not required; however, any medical care expenses will be borne by you, should you become ill or injured on the trip.

REFUND POLICY: 
Refund requests that are made  one week prior to the trip registration closeing are eligible for a full refund. Refund requests less than one week prior to the trip registration closing are eligible for a 75% refund.
