Understanding Fractions Institute - January 13-14, 2027 Jackson, MS

This two-day session will engage teachers in exploring strategies and tools to introduce representations of fractions, including manipulatives, number lines, and visual diagrams. Strategies for building conceptual understanding of fraction equivalence will be explored as well as strategies for teaching operations with fractions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division). Participants will discuss how strategies build upon students’ prior experiences with operations with whole numbers.
