This course introduces valuable project management concepts and techniques to prepare you for future opportunities in project work. Students can choose to take this course fully asynchronous or through a combination of self-paced online modules and hands-on instructor led training. Regardless of modality, you will learn how to contribute to successful project delivery and examine practical concepts and best practices through exercises designed to be relevant to a project delivery environment.
This introductory course begins with an overview of project management, industry standards and project lifecycles. The class then shifts to project planning, where you will be introduced to the phases of project management based on the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). The course concludes with an emphasis on providing meaningful status reports and documenting lessons learned for the benefit of future projects. Sessions are led by Aaron DeWispelare, Ph.D., P.E., PMP, ACP, a top facilitator with extensive experience in both the public and private sector.
If you are applying to take the CAPM certification exam, the Asynchronous Only Modality course satisfies the CAPM prerequisite of 16 hours of project management education; the Hybrid Course Modality satisfies the CAPM prerequisite of 23 hours of project management education.
