Stringly: Guitar String Jewelry

Stringly started with a group of college students who wanted to find uses for old, worn-out guitar and bass strings. After much deliberation, it was decided that jewelry made of old strings that would otherwise be thrown away would be the best way to recycle them. Stringly’s jewelry is rather unique in the fact that all strings are upcycled, meaning that they were destined for a landfill, and were seen as trash by music retailers. Each string is acquired from a music retailer, professional musician, or just anyone who wants to donate to the cause. After the strings are acquired, the Stringly team uses their creative and artistic vision to craft the jewelry with a careful and detailed process. Part of the charm is that each piece is like a snowflake, no two pieces are the same. Stringly wants each piece to be remarkable to the wearer and can pick out their desired piece from a selection of pre crafted pieces presented to them. This begs the question, are they customizable? The answer is yes! If a customer wants to have a certain color or characteristic of their jewelry piece, they may submit a special request to the Stringly team, and a custom color piece can be made. Designs can be requested, but given the materials on hand, such requests might not be able to be fulfilled. Each piece has a set size, so customers will have to pick their piece from the collection of premade pieces, but like the color, size is customizable as well! A concern that arose during the design of jewelry was oxidation of the strings, as well as said oxidation leaving a green discolored mark on the skin. Some guitar strings are made of corrosive materials and can leave marks on the skin, like how other jewelry can do. To prevent this oxidation process entirely, the Stringly team came up with a coating process on each piece of jewelry. Like how certain guitar string manufacturers coat their strings to give them a longer life, Stringly came up with a process of long-term string coating to ensure that each piece will withstand testament of time. If you want to stand out with a new, creative, and musical piece of jewelry, Stringly is for you!
