Adults in a Student Orchestra (Fall 2026)

Adults in a Student Orchestra (Fall 2026)

Adults may participate in a student orchestra. Available orchestras include Concertino, Capriccio, and Intermezzo–please see the student program descriptions for each level and note that Intermezzo is by audition only and incurs an additional $30 fee. Adults are seated toward the back of all student orchestras.

If you wish to participate in both the Adult Orchestra and a student orchestra, please register under Adult Orchestra instead of selecting this option. This registration option is intended only for adults who plan to participate in a student orchestra instead of enrolling in Adult Orchestra.

New adult participants may enroll in a student orchestra during either the fall or spring semesters with appropriate prerequisite skills. If you are unsure which orchestra is the best fit, please contact the USC String Project at uscsp@mozart.sc.edu.

Adult in a Student Orchestra + Lessons
Adults enrolled in a student orchestra may elect to add weekly private lessons (30 minutes, one-on-one instruction) to support continued technical and musical development. All adult lessons are offered on Wednesdays at either 5:00–5:30 p.m. or 6:30–7:00 p.m. and are taught by undergraduate String Project faculty. Lesson times are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost of lessons is $175 per semester, payable within 72 hours of receiving a confirmation email with your assigned lesson time.

Private lessons are available in both fall and spring semesters; however, new private lesson students are accepted in the fall semester only. Adults joining in the spring may only enroll in Adult Orchestra or Adults in a Student Orchestra. Enrollment in private lessons requires concurrent enrollment in Adult Orchestra or a student orchestra; private lessons may not be taken independently.
