FREN 398 / CPLT 415W: Colonial Histories and Decolonial Ecologies of the French Caribbean
With a focus on the French Caribbean, this interdisciplinary course explores intersections in colonial and environmental issues in the past and present. After eight weeks of traditional classroom meetings on campus (January 12-March 7, 2026; MW 2:20-3:35pm), the course culminates in a one-week intensive education abroad experience in Guadeloupe during spring break, March 7-14, 2026. Taught in English and open to all majors.

Enrollment options
  • FREN 398: Students who have completed FREN 209/210 complete assignments in French for credit to French major or minor.
  • CPLT 415W: No language prerequisites, all work in English, and counts towards GLD  (Professional and Civic Engagement Leadership Experiences​).

Housing: Students will be staying in double occupancy 3-star hotel in Le Gosier (Grande Terre, Guadeloupe).
