Germany – Study Abroad 2025 – HRSM 301

COURSE CREDIT:
3 credit hours – HRSM 301. Counts toward graduation with leadership distinction.

The professional seminar will cover many essential areas that increase your level of professional development to prepare you with your job search strategy so you can achieve your career goals upon graduation.  At the end of this course, you will be able to confidently perform the following:
  1. Create a professionally formatted, accomplishment-based resume, and apply it in human and artificial intelligence environments.
  2. Demonstrate professional presence in face to face and virtual workplace settings.
  3. Construct professional and purposeful online profiles with supporting documents.
  4. Discuss applicable job search strategies in alignment with a professional networking strategy.
  5. Utilize self-awareness and personality temperaments to identify and support various communication styles.
  6. Demonstrate proficiency in behavioral interviewing in face to face and virtual environments.
  7. Apply emotional intelligence to positively impact workplace scenarios.
  8. Exhibit professionalism in a formal business dining setting.
  9. Develop strategies for minimizing work-related stress and maintaining a healthy work-life balance in traditional, remote and hybrid workplace environments.
  10. Demonstrate knowledge of compensation, as it relates to direct and indirect benefits expectations, and exhibit salary negotiation skills.
  11. Facilitate and promote verbal and non-verbal communication across linguistic and cultural boundaries, leading to more acceptance and stronger relationships amongst people of diverse backgrounds.   

The travel component of this seminar is to enhance your professionalism in the business areas of sustainable Hospitality, Retailing and Sport and Entertainment industry in the Green City of Freiburg, Germany.

Our visits to iconic sites with specialized guest speakers will increase your cultural and academic learning with the goal of developing personal and professional growth.

  • Guided daytrip with group lunch and hiking through the Black Forest (Schwartzwald)

  • Food sampling and discussion with local farmers at the market (Munstermarkt)

  • Green City Hotel visit with tour and discussion on sustainable tourism
  • 4 course dinner in local restaurant with business dining techniques and etiquette instruction
  • Day trip to Strasbourg, France with guide to include EU Parliament tour, group lunch, cathedral and castle visits
  • Classroom space for additional instructions to include True Colors Personality Temperament training, Multi-Cultural Communication, Emotional Intelligence and much more.

Program Fees Include:
  • Hotel (six nights, multiple occupancy) with Wi-Fi
  • Breakfast daily
  • In-country transportation passes during programing
  • Two group meals including welcome dinner, a group lunch, and a food tasting at the local market
  • Entrance to all venues and tours listed on final itinerary

Program Fees Do Not Include:
  • Transportation and airfare to / from Freiburg, Germany
  • USC global health insurance ($36)
  • Trip Interruption insurance (recommended)
  • USC Education Abroad application fee ($150)
  • Meals, site visits and excursions not listed on final itinerary
  • Passports, any required medical treatment/testing/documentation
  • Personal expenses and shopping

Price per student is $2,575, plus tuition for HRSM 301, USC global health insurance and Education Abroad fee. Program fees are non-refundable. If the program is cancelled by USC prior to departure, recoverable costs will be refunded.

This trip is limited to 20 participants and is expected to be filled quickly; reserve your space by submitting your first payment soon.
