HRTM 590 - The Intensive Alaska Ecotourism Experience 2022

Tour cost: $3,800 plus tuition, transportation to/from Anchorage, and applicable fees.

Explore ecotourism in Alaska beginning in Anchorage, the largest city in the state. Embark on an exciting expedition from Denali (Mt. McKinley) to Prince William Sound.

The program is designed to enhance your academic, personal, and cultural learning through the Alaskan expedition study experience. Emphasis will be placed on the various types of ecotourism including nature-based, cultural, urban, and adventure tourism as well as other issues such as ecological impacts, economics and marketing, sustainability, ethics and the effect of ecotourism on the local community.

• Wilderness Jet Boat Adventure on the Sustina River
• Visit to the Portage Glacier

• Eagle River Nature Center
• Mahay's Wilderness Excursion
• Kayak adventure in Prince William Sound
• Picnic Lunch at Denali State Park
• Farewell dinner
• 4 nights in Anchorage, 4 nights in Talkeetna at the base of Denali, 2 nights in Girdwood (tucked in the mountains between Anchorage and Whittier / Prince William Sound).

• Hotel (ten nights, multiple occupancy)

• Tuition for HRTM 590
• UofSC global health insurance
• Any meals, site visits and excursions not listed on final itinerary
• Required vaccinations and required medical clearance documentation

Tour fees are non-refundable.

Tour cost is $3,800. A non-refundable deposit of $1,900 is due by March 15, 2022 and the remaining $1,900 is due by April 15, 2022.
