Summer 2026 Cochrane Training in Talloires

Summer 2026 Cochrane Training in Talloires

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the Cochrane Systematic Review Standard Author Training Workshop, a comprehensive four-day program designed to equip participants with the essential skills required to conduct high-quality systematic reviews. It provides a structured, hands-on learning experience covering all stages of systematic review process, from developing a research protocol to reporting findings.

This workshop is offered by Tufts University, an affiliate of Cochrane US, and will take place in person from July 6-9, 2026 at the Tufts European Center in Talloires, France. Participants will arrive on July 5th, 2026 at their accommodation for a cocktail dinner at the center and will use bus transportation. There will not be an online attendance option for this training. Participants are responsible for arranging their own international travel. Please be sure to read the information at the bottom of this description regarding data privacy and refunds before registering.

Throughout the workshop, participants will engage in a combination of lectures, small group exercises, and interactive sessions. Key topics include formulating research questions using the PICO framework, conducting literature searches, data extraction, risk of bias assessment, meta-analysis, and the use of tools such as Covidence, RevMan, and Grade-Pro. Participants will also gain experience in applying PRISMA guidelines and GRADE criteria to evaulate the quality and certainty of evidence.

In addition to technical training, the workshop incorporates team-building and structured networking activities designed to foster collaborations and strengthen professional relationships among participants. These interactive sessions provide valuable opportunities to connect, share experiences, and build lasting research partnerships.

Importantly, the workshop extends beyond the training itself through a dedicated mentorship program. Participants will have the opportunity to continue their research journey by working with mentors from WHO, Tufts clinicians/researchers, and experts from the Cochrane US Network to refine their review topics, register their titles with Cochrane or PROSPERO, and progress towards publishing their protocol and full systematic review.

For MPH students at Tufts University, this workshop and associated research activities may be selected as part of their Integrated Learning Experience (ILE), providing a valuable opportunity to align academic requirements with hands-on research and publication.

By the end of the program, participants will have developed practical skills in systematic review methodology and will be better prepared to contribute to evidence-based research and publication efforts.

For a detailed agenda of the workshop sessions, please refer to the attached schedule.

Please feel free to reach out to Dr. Shayesteh Jahanfar (Director of Cochrane Affiliate at Tufts) at shayesteh.jahanfar@tufts.edu or Carson Kingsbury (Cochrane Fellow) at carson.kingsbury@tufts.edu with any questions. We look forward to your participation.
