SCSU CTL Parent Training Institute 2024 -2025

PARENT TRAINING INSTITUTE
Presented by the SCSU Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning

Purpose: This institute will offer monthly virtual training sessions, and helpful resources on a range of topics that can help parents support their child's academic, social, and emotional development.
Where: All parent workshops will be held virtually.
How: Our online workshops will be recorded for use by registered attendees, including those who are unable to attend live.
When: Mondays between 9.00 pm -10.00 pm (Eastern NY Time) October 2024 - June 2025
Certificate: Every registered attendee will receive a “Certificate of Completion”
Who: Open to parents of children of all ages. Due to the recent influx of families migrating to Connecticut and the USA, this workshop will be conducted in Turkish, as requested by recently moved parents. Dr. Yavuz is also open to organizing additional workshops in English if needed.
Cost: $100 including full access to 10 live and recorded workshop series

Monday, December 30 @9pm: When and How do We start the College Application Process in the US?
Monday, January 27 @9pm: How Can Parents Help Their Kids Get Ready for Standardized Tests (State Exams/PSAT/SAT/ACT) in the US?
Monday, February 24 @9pm: How Can We Raise Responsible and Self-Directed Children in the US?
Monday, March 24 @9pm: When and How Do We Start Preparing Our Children for Career and Professional Life in the US?
Monday, April 28 @9pm: How Can We Support Our Children's Leadership Functions and 21st Century Skills in the US?
Monday, May 26 @9pm: How Do We Protect Our Children from Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying in and Out of School in the US?
Monday, June 9 @9pm: How Can We as Parents Help Our Children Succeed in School in the US?
Monday, June 23 @7pm: What Are the Roles of Parents in Planning Effective Summer Programs for Children and Teens in the US?

Cancellation Policy:

To receive a full refund (100%) of the program fees, parents must request cancellation in writing by October 31, 2024 (two business days prior to the first class day of the program).
No refunds will be issued after October 31, 2024.
