Science of Astronomy

Come experience astronomy in a whole new way! We're diving into the science and math of astronomy, geography of the moon and various planets, and learning about optical astronomy and how it's used to study the Universe! Plus, each camper will build their own rover to take home.

DAILY ACTIVITY: Camp begins with learning about the geography of the moon. Campers will then cover optical astronomy and how scientists use light spectrum to study the universe. Campers will then move onto famous math equations that are used to learn about space, how they developed the equations and what they're all used for. Campers will then create their own rover and learn about the Artemis project and the impact it has had on space exploration. A snack break is given midway through each camp day. Snacks and water are provided. 

* All parents and guardians will receive a parent information packet via email when registering for the 2025 Odessa College Summer Camps! These packets must be completed and returned before the 1st day of camp.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PARENTS: It is recommended all campers bring a bottle of water. Campers will be dropped off and picked up from the Sports Center Main Lobby.

Registration Charges:
* Early Registration ends the Monday prior to each Sports Center Camp Start Date!
* Late Registrations will have an additional $15.00 added to the total per registration.

Refunds:
* 100% refund IF done up to *3 BUSINESS DAYS prior to camp start date. Any exceptions to this rule will be decided by the Community Recreation Director.
