STUDENT LIFE EMPTY BOWLS DONATIONS

There’s more to college life than attending classes and studying for exams. It’s also important to meet new people, explore your interests through clubs and other activities, or even take on a leadership role. That’s why Oakton College offers an extraordinarily rich array of opportunities to stay active, healthy, and engaged. Find out more at the Office of Student Life and Campus Inclusion.

Empty Bowls at Oakton is part of a nonprofit, global movement that has raised millions of dollars for food banks, soup kitchens and other meal programs.

The Oakton Ceramics Club will host the annual Empty Bowls event from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2nd, at Oakton College’s Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road, in Rooms 1606-1610.

The event is now in its 20th year of raising awareness of local and worldwide hunger.

Admission is free, and for a donation of just $20, participants are invited to choose and keep their favorite handcrafted bowl made by local professional and student potters, enjoy a simple lunch of soup and bread, and enjoy live music. Larger and unique art pieces are also available at bargain purchase prices. All proceeds go to local food pantries.

Since 2004, Empty Bowls at Oakton has raised almost $400,000 for area food charities.  Twenty years of giving, one delicious bowl at a time!

The Ceramics Club is accepting monetary donations to support our local food pantries through January 31, 2024.
