Presenter: David Shapiro, Ph.D., ABPP Friday, October 10, 2025 ♦ 10:00 am – 12:00pm EDT Zoom Webinar This presentation will provide participants with critical skills for navigating challenging forensic contexts, including strategies for effectively managing aggressive cross-examination, preparing thoroughly, and responding ethically to misleading or confrontational questions. Attendees will also explore the legal and ethical complexities related to the release of raw psychological test data, with an emphasis on balancing client protection and legal obligations. In addition, the workshop will clarify the ethical boundaries surrounding the discussion of ultimate legal issues in forensic reports and testimony. Focus will be on distinguishing between clinical services provided in legal settings and the practice of forensic psychology. This session aims to support participants to be better equipped to uphold professional integrity and ethical standards in forensic assessments.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
David Shapiro, Ph.D., ABPP is a Professor Emeritus at the College of Psychology at Nova Southeastern University. He was involved in teaching, training, and research in the forensic concentration. He holds a Diplomate in Forensic Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (1979). Dr. Shapiro has authored fifteen books and approximately forty peer reviewed articles and book chapters in forensic psychology, ethics, and malpractice issues. He has served on the ethics committees of the American Psychological Association and the American Board of Professional Psychology and has received distinguished Contribution Awards from the American Academy of Forensic Psychology and from Division 42 of the American Psychological Association.
