Kayaking and Paddleboarding Whiskey Creek

Trip Description
Join the NSU Outdoor Recreation team to Whiskey Creek in Dania Beach for a kayaking and paddleboarding adventure. Paddle South to the Dania Beach pier a mile and a half down the Whiskey creek past the beach through the mangroves into the calm shallow waters of the whiskey creek hideout to the intercoastal. The mangrove-lined waterway is a scenic place to canoe, observe bird life, and take photographs.
Rental also Includes Safety Vests and Instructions. Your Guides will provide features of the mangroves and surrounding waterways.You may select Single kayaks (one-person), Tandem kayaks (two-person) or Stand Up Paddleboards. If you sign up for a Tandem kayak, you can request someone to kayak with or meet someone new. Transportation from campus via Shark Shuttle is included.
Itinerary
- 8:00am Meet at Shark Fountain Circle outside of Don Taft University Center
- 8:15am Depart campus via Shark Shuttle
- 9:00am Arrive at Whiskey Creek Hideout
- 9:30am Kayak/Paddleboard tour
- 12:00pm Depart Whiskey Creek Hideout and return to NSU
- 12:45pm Arrive back at campus
Reservation/Payment
This kayaking/paddleboarding trip and round trip transportation is only $35 for NSU students, faculty and staff.
What to Bring
- Bathing suit
- Coverup/long sleeve shirt/rashguard for sun protection
- Sandals or water shoes
- Towel
- Sunscreen (Coral-Safe is preferred)
- Hat
- Sunglasses
- Water bottles
- Snacks

The Shark Shuttle will leave promptly at 8:15am from the Shark Fountain Circle on main campus. The Shark Shuttle will return to campus around 12:45pm.
Equipment
You will be issued a single or tandem (two person) kayak or a stand up paddleboard. If you know who you would like to share your kayak with, please list the name of the person when registering. Otherwise you may leave it blank and someone will be with you. You will also get a paddle and personal floatation device.Trip Supervisors

Cancelation Policy
You may cancel and receive a refund prior to Friday at 12:00pm for this trip. If you cancel after that time, you may not receive a refund if we are unable to fill your spot. Please contact the Trip Supervisor to let them know if you have to cancel the morning of the trip. Otherwise contact Tec at tclark@nova.edu to cancel.
