American Red Cross: Water Safety Instructor course

The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course trains instructor candidates to teach the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety programs. Such courses include: Parent and Child aquatics, Preschool aquatics, Learn-to-Swim, Adult Swim, Basic Water Rescue, Personal Water Safety, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Water Safety Today, and various other water safety presentations. Candidates must be at least 16 years of age before course end date and will be given practice-teaching assignments that will give them experience in teaching course materials, presenting, demonstrating, organizing, managing, and evaluating participant progression. Books and training materials are included with the registration fee. Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will also need to pay the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor enrollment fee of $35.

Prerequisites

Candidates MUST be able to demonstrate proficiently the following strokes: front crawl (freestyle), back crawl (back stroke), breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, and butterfly. Also must be able to demonstrate floating on the back and treading water for 1 minute. Click the links below for a demonstration of each of the required strokes

Refund Policy

There are no refunds for those who do not successfully pass the prerequisites OR can not attend ALL class dates. Please note, an additional non-refundable certification fee of $36 will need to be paid to the American Red Cross for enrollment of this course. Additional information will be emailed to you once you have completed this registration.

Price:$265.00

Registration fees are nonrefundable. However, in the event that a program is cancelled all registered participants will receive a full refund.
