NCD412 - 50 Hour Pre-Service BRIDGE Intro to Teach K-12 ONLINE (Starts December 3)

This course has been created to help candidates who successfully completed the 24-Hour Program upgrade to the new 50-hour Program. It is referred to as a “bridge” course as it is for students who have already successfully completed the previously required 24-hour Introduction to Teaching course, but need to make up additional hours and course work to fulfill the new New Jersey DOE 50-hour requirement.

The required 50 hours of pre-service is not a standalone program. It is the first part of NJCU's New Pathways to Teaching Alternate Route Program. Additionally, please keep in mind that you will need a CGPA of 3.0 and a regular CE in order to be admitted into the NPTNJ Program. Limited or temporary CE's are not accepted into our program.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will have met one of NJDOE’s requirements for entering the New Pathways to Teaching (an alternate route) Program, working towards earning a standard teaching certification.

This class is the first part of the Alternate Route coursework. The class runs 5 weeks and includes an overview of all aspects of teaching, including:

Overview of the Teaching Profession
Classroom Management
Lesson Planning
Literacy
Diversity
Assessments
Technology and The Home Connection

Upon successful completion of this course, candidates receive a Verification of Program Completion form that is used by a school district to apply for a candidate's Provisional License.
