NCD413 - 50 Hour Pre-Service Intro to Teach K-12 ONLINE (Starts June 4)

Required by the NJDOE, the primary goal of this course is to provide the prospective teacher with an overview of the teaching profession in topics such as: Classroom Management, Assessment Tools, Lesson Planning, Learning Strategies, Diversity in the Classroom, Implementation of Technology, Classroom Observations and Job Search Strategies.

While there are no admission requirements for this course, please keep in mind that you will need a CGPA of 3.0 and a regular CE. Limited or temporary CE's are not accepted into our program. The required 50 hours of pre-service is not a standalone program. It is the first part of NJCU's New Pathways to Teaching Alternate Route Program. Please note that this non-credit course is offered as an ONLINE offering and requires 30 hours of class work, 12 hours of clinical field work, and 8 hours of classroom observation.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will have met one of NJDOE's requirements for entering the New Pathways to Teaching (an alternate route) Program, working towards earning a standard teaching certification.

This class is the first part of the Alternate Route coursework. The class runs 5 weeks and includes an overview of all aspects of teaching, including:

Overview of the Teaching Profession
Classroom Management
Lesson Planning
Literacy
Diversity
Assessments
Technology and The Home Connection

Upon successful completion of this course, candidates receive a Verification of Program Completion form that is used by a school district to apply for a candidate's Provisional License.
