Home study programs are NBCC credentialed, web-based presentations that provide participants continuing education (CE) hours for licensure. The Department of Professional Counseling offers these programs through an online platform called eCampus which contains all the required materials. A portion of the proceeds made from registrations will be donated to the Professional Counseling Scholarship Fund to benefit current students in the department.
Professional Counseling Home Study Program Refund Policy
All Professional Counseling home study programs are non-refundable. Participants who cancel their registration at any point will not receive a refund. No credit vouchers will be issued toward a future program.
This workshop is an introduction to Motivational Interviewing (MI) for novice counselors and those unfamiliar with this practice. Attendees will be presented with fundamental information on MI, an evidence-based clinical method for counseling clients with substance abuse and other mental health issues. Theoretical foundations and their practical applications, primary principles, and clinical tools and techniques will be covered.

Traumatic medical events such as illness, diagnostic or therapeutic procedure can have a myriad of emotional consequences which can include PTSD, chronic anxiety, panic attacks, and avoiding necessary medical procedures. This presentation will discuss the physical/psychological challenges associated with medical traumas, and therapeutic interventions which may mitigate the emotional suffering of these distressing scenarios.
