Each day we see more children who are “in the syndrome mix,” struggling with sensitivities and perceptions that impact their daily life and trigger maladaptive behaviors including anxiety, reactivity, withdrawal or aggression. This session will take a deeper look at the neuro-science involved in processing deficits and differences and how these differences impact the way individuals interact with the world. We will analyze how processing relates to specific disorders including PDA, ODD, spectrum disorders, sensory processing disorders, anxiety, depression and ADD/ADHD. We will then spend the rest of the session creating strengths-based, empowering strategies by developing intervention plans using the most effective modalities. We encourage participants to bring their own concerns and cases for discussion. This session is perfect for practitioners and parents who want to better understand and empower the children and adolescents they care for.
