If you are considering furthering your career as an advanced practice nurse, join us for a career café.  A panel of faculty members and Monmouth University alumni who are currently practicing in psychiatric-mental health, urgent care, and primary care will engage in a conversation about the role and responsibilities of the advanced practice nurse. Our panel of experts will share their expertise and provide insight regarding factors to consider when deciding whether or not to pursue advanced practice nursing education.

Key topic areas include:  

  • The role of the advanced practice nurse in today’s healthcare climate
  • Opportunities and challenges for nurses in advanced practice
  • Job outlook and growth areas for nurse practitioners
  • An overview of graduate program expectations and pathways

Presenters:

Dr. Rose Knapp, DNP, RN, APN-C Associate Professor, Graduate Faculty, Nurse Practitioner Track Coordinator - Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies. Dr. Knapp has practiced as an Advanced Practice Nurse for 23 years in Urgent Care, Emergency Care, and Primary Care.  

Dr. Cheryl Leiningen, DNP, RN, PMHNP-C  - Associate Professor and Scholar with the  Edmond J. Safra Visiting Nurse Faculty Program at the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. Dr. Leiningen has practiced as an Advanced Practice Nurse for 23 years in adult and psychiatric/mental health care.

Successful Completion:  Participants will attend 100% of the program, and complete an online evaluation to receive contact hours. None of the planners for this educational activity have relevant financial relationship(s) to disclose with ineligible companies whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients. There is no commercial support for this activity.
