A Holistic & Body-Centered Approach to Anxiety Management - Wednesday, July 19, 2023

Workshop Description:

This seminar will improve your working knowledge of mindfulness and the mind-body connection, in relation to treating generalized anxiety disorder. Education will be provided to further your skills on assessing for anxiety stored in the body that is contributing to maladaptive symptoms. You will learn to help clients effectively cope with anxiety symptoms through a holistic lens.

Learning Objectives
  1. Understand the key concepts of mindfulness and somatic experiences in relation to anxiety disorders.
  2. Improve familiarity around trauma sensitivity and awareness when treating anxiety disorders.
  3. Be able to define and assess for the concepts of “aversion” and “attachment”.
  4. Identify common “safety strategies” that may be enabling client’s anxiety.
  5. Understand the amygdala’s role in the stress/fear/anxiety response and formation of emotional memories.
  6. Gain holistic tools to help clients reduce anxiety symptoms.

Presenter Information:

Lauren Simicich, LCSW, LCADC is a Monmouth University Alumni, who graduated with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Lauren is additionally a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor and EMDR Certified. Throughout her career, Lauren has worked in several Drug and Alcohol facilities, has facilitated two multifamily groups, and currently owns her own private practice. Lauren specializes in treating addiction, trauma and anxiety, and utilizes psychoanalytic and holistic approaches to wellness.
