Linear Algebra: A Bridge Course for Prospective Applied Statistics Students (Fall 2024)

REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR FALL 2024!

This online, non-credit, ten-week bridge course starts on Monday, September 16, 2024.

This course is specifically designed for prospective students who want to enroll in Michigan Tech’s Online Master of Science in Applied Statistics. It is ideal for those who do not have the required college course work in linear algebra, but who would still like to apply to MTU's online statistics program.

The practical curriculum provides an overview of the fundamental concepts of linear algebra as they are used in applied statistics courses, such as the following: systems of equations, vectors, matrices, orthogonality, subspaces, and the eigenvalue problem.

Students will watch instructor-led videos, do extensive auto-graded exercises in Pearson's MyLab Math, complete periodic review assignments, and interact with and receive regular feedback from their instructor.

Once students have access to the Canvas environment, they will purchase the required course materials: access to MyLab Math. If purchased with a credit card or PayPal, these materials are available instantly.

This course is non-refundable. Therefore, if you are unsure about whether this course is right for you, please contact the instructor, Teresa Woods (tmthomps@mtu.edu); or the Director of Graduate Enrollment Services, Jacque Smith (jacque@mtu.edu).
