July 11th Orientation Rafting on the Animas

July 11th Orientation Rafting on the Animas

Join your peers on a rafting trip down the Animas River!

On this half-day excursion, we will raft/paddle down the famous "Town Stretch" of the Animas River in Durango. Starting at the north end of town, we will safely guide you through class I-III rapids while pointing out all of the local favorite spots around town.
The Lower Animas is one of the nation's last free-flowing rivers! This means that there are no dams upstream that control the flow. All of our water in the river comes from melted snow up high, or rainfall. Because of our low snowpack this year, we can expect the river to be running at low flows, meaning this trip is beginner friendly and open to all ages!

Whats Included:

- Transportation to and from the river.
- PFDs, helmets, and all safety equipment.
- Licensed Fort Lewis student guides.
- Snacks while out on the river.

Not Included but required:

- Quick-drying clothing (t-shirt, shorts, bathing suit).
- Water bottle.
- Shoes with a heel-strap (NO flip-flops or slides).
- Towel.
