Faculty/Staff and Student Walking in the Steps of Jesus and His Apostles: Exploring the NT Narrative

Course Summary:
Many New Testament Survey seminars focus on the 4 W’s: who, what, where, and why of each book in the New Testament. This 1 day seminar will direct attention to the metanarrative of the NT. We will walk with Jesus from the manger to the cross, experience the struggles and conflicts of the early church as the Apostles spread the Gospel message, and empathize with the early Christians as they scattered throughout the Roman Empire under persecution. Last, we will sit alongside John on the island of Patmos and glory in the return of Christ. By tracing the chronological events of the New Testament from birth to the return of Christ, participants will be able to articulate the story of the NT, from Matthew to Revelation, whether in a sermon, small-group Bible study, Sunday School class, or to their next door neighbor.

Instructor Bio:
Dr. Thomason is Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies and Director of the Master of Arts in International Studies at DBU. He has served 32 churches in 6 different countries in the area of pulpit supply, Sunday School teacher, children’s worker, and missionary. A DBU alumnus, Dr. Thomason holds theological degrees from the U.K. (Ph.D), Belgium (Th.M.), and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div). He and his wife, Aline, are members of Road Baptist Church in Arlington and live in Dallas with their son Ben Aaron (2).
