Just Get Over It

This program explores stereotypes, biases and racism between Indigenous Peoples and Settlers as well as celebrating Indigenous culture.

You are welcome to attend the workshop only but if you would like to get a Just Get Over It micro-credential there is an additional activity to attend that celebrates Indigenous culture

To obtain the micro-credential you need to complete two sessions:

PART A: In this 3 hour interactive workshop, participants explore the true and historic relationship between Indigenous Peoples and settlers. We will reflect on stereotypes, biases, and racism that still exist. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their personal identities and learning within educational systems and discuss ways to make a difference in sharing these truths.

              Oct 9  4:30 - 7:30

PART B: In the session participant will celebrate Indigenous culture. The sessions will vary but may include visiting the tipi, finding out more about indigenous history about this area, attending a movie.

Examples include: 

Sept      Attending Curve Lake PowWow
Nov       Attending 2 sessions at the Elders Gathering  Nov 8&9   at Trent University 
June      Attending a 2 hour event at the Nogojiwanong Indigenous Fringe Festival
