  • In Bold Builders, students use the Youth Engineering Solutions curriculum to tackle a real-world environmental challenge. Acting as environmental engineers, 3rd–5th graders follow the Engineering Design Process to design and test a plastic filter that reduces waste flowing from a river into a bay. Along the way, they explore the properties of plastic, investigate pollution impacts, and design solutions that meet the needs of different community members.

Students experiment with ramps, loops, and drops to keep their marble moving, then level up by incorporating Rube Goldberg-style chain reactions into their designs. Through hands-on building and problem-solving, campers learn how potential and kinetic energy work together to power motion.
