In this creative beginner’s class, students will learn the fundamentals of chess while exploring the art and design behind the game. Using strategy, math, and maker skills, participants will discover how each chess piece moves and works together, then bring their own ideas to life by making custom pieces, and building a personalized chessboard. Through guided play and hands-on creation, students will strengthen problem-solving, spatial reasoning, and creativity—leaving the class with both the confidence to play and a one-of-a-kind chess set they designed themselves. *Repeat offering from Summer/spring class
