Easy Foraging Hike for Beginners

Join us Saturday, April 19th at Nature as Teacher Preserve for Education to discover the rich bounty of South Carolina's wild edibles as we celebrate Earth Day! From pawpaw and persimmon to hickory nuts and highbush blueberries, the Palmetto State offers a diverse array of nutritious native plants. Nature as Teacher's Volunteer of the Year (2024) Beka Judson, will teach us how to forage responsibly and follow best practices, such as properly identifying plants, obtaining permission, and harvesting only what you need. As you explore the world of wild edibles, you'll uncover the secrets of sustainable foraging and gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world. No experience necessary. Bring your hiking boots and curiosity!
