Bark and Ambrosia Beetles Workshop


The main purpose of this course is to provide students with the ability to identify the common genera of North American bark and ambrosia beetles (Curculionidae: Scolytinae) and recognize some non-native species.

The course will also provide a general overview of the biology, collection, and curation of these economically and ecologically important beetles.

The course is hands-on and in-person. Students will receive and keep a reference collection, keys, and identification aids. Students are encouraged to bring their own unidentified material for study.

For the safety of instructors and students all participants are REQUIRED to be fully vaccinated and boosted against Covid-19.
