2025 Hydrogeology Symposium Field Trip

Brevard, N.C is the type location for the Brevard Fault Zone.  The transition across the BFZ will be examined. We will proceed into the Pisgah Mountains to examine landslides, the Looking Glass pluton, Pink Beds and other intrusions. The summit of Black Balsam Mountain off the Blue Ridge Parkway will be visited to view highly deformed beds of the Ashe Metamorphic Suite.  Some hiking is required to visit all locations.  If not able, bring a chair and enjoy the mountain air.
