2026 Hydrogeology Symposium Field Trip

The 2026 field trip will examine the three main thrust sheets that comprise the Inner Piedmont in the upstate of South Carolina: the Six Mile, Walhalla, and Jocassee thrust sheets. The thrust faults that separate these thrust sheets will be identified. As we traverse from Clemson to Sassafras Mountain, the highest point in South Carolina, we will also visit notable geomorphic features such as Kite Hill, Six Mile Mountain, and Big Rock Mountain
