NY Insurance CE courses (Webinar)

NY Continuing Education Requirements

According to the NYS Department of Financial Services— In accordance with Insurance Law Section 2132, 15 credits of continuing education (CE) are required to renew or to relicense certain insurance licenses. CE will be required once the license has been in effect for more than 2 years and for every subsequent renewal or relicensing. Credits must be accumulated during the licensing period, which begins with the effective date of the license.

Effective as of November 12, 2021, the 15 credit hours of instruction required in accordance with Insurance Law Section 2132, a licensee must satisfactorily complete courses or programs of instruction or attend seminars that provide:

  • at least one hour of Insurance Law instruction. at least one hour of ethics and professionalism instruction.
  • at least one hour of diversity, inclusion, and elimination of bias instruction.
  • at least one hour of flood insurance instruction if the licensee is licensed to sell one or more lines of property/casualty insurance.
  • and at least three hours of enhanced flood insurance instruction if the licensee sells flood insurance through the NFIP.

These requirements shall apply to a licensee whose license renews on or after April 1, 2022.

Bryant & Stratton College offers the following courses to help students satisfy these requirements stated above. Please remember that you will need a total of 15 credits of CE.

Ethical Dilemmas, Contract Law and Trends in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (3 credits).  - Approved for 1 hour of Law, 1 hour of Ethics, and 1 hour Diversity & Inclusion and Elimination of Bias instruction, for the following licenses: BR, PC, LA, PA, LSB, LB, C1, C3.

Flood Polices, Property & Coverage Parts: Basic Flood Insurance Training (1 credit). - Approved for 1 hour of flood insurance instruction, for the following licenses: BR, PC, PA, C3. Is NOT approved for: LA, LB, LSB, C1.

Rising Risks and Changing Needs: Enhanced Flood Training * (3 credits).- Approved for 3 hours of enhanced flood insurance instruction, for the following licenses: BR, PC, PA, C3. Is NOT approved for: LA, LB, LSB, C1.     

*must be taken in addition to Basic flood course, if selling flood insurance through NFIP.
