Inclusion and Behavior Management in an early childhood classroom

Working with diverse students in early childhood classrooms and including those with special needs is an opportunity for teachers to bring the joy of learning out of every student and to also gain the most rewarding experience through developing positive strategies to help all learners overcome every challenge by removing all barriers that hinder effective instruction. During this workshop, participants will engage in meaningful conversations about ways to maintain good behaviors and ways to decrease challenging behaviors by being proactive in planning lessons and by incorporating the Universal Design for Learning framework in their classrooms. We will talk about the role of the students, families, school administration, our communities and of course the role of teachers to set classroom management and behavior goals, how to reinforce them and how to manage challenging behaviors with powerful strategies. The main purpose of this workshop is to help teachers understand their responsibilities inside their inclusive classrooms with their students and colleagues and outside of the classroom with their families and the community to have a successful year. We will talk about opportunities for collaboration of best practices and learning from each other!
