The 2025 seminar will focus on philosophical questions about laws, markets, and conventions. Specific issues to be discussed may involve debates about the nature or normative status of various legal institutions, controversies about specific legal prohibitions, questions about science and the laws of nature, concerns about inappropriate market commodification, puzzles about consumer boycotts and ethical divestment, questions about the merits of capitalism and private property, and debates on the role of convention or social construction in these and other domains.
