Fifteenth Charles Town Maroon Conference

This five-day event explores the theme of "Reconciliation" in broad theoretical and disciplinary terms to consider histories of resistance, marronage, and Indigenous peoples. This outdoor conference takes place in the Maroon community of Charles Town, near Buff Bay, in Portland Jamaica, June 21-25, 2023.

The conference fees ($500 for faculty; $400 for graduate students, activists and artists; $300 for local academics; and $100 for “other) include: transportation between Kingston and Port Antonio on Wednesday June 21 and returning on Sunday June 25 (3 hours each way) as well as between the hotel and Charles Town on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and from the hotel to Charles Town on Sunday (1 hour each way); the opening reception/dinner/performance at the conference hotel on Wednesday June 21); all panels performances and workshops at Charles Town; a Saturday banquet at Charles Town; and three additional meals at Charles Town.
