VitalCog: Supporting Employees Affected by Substance Use Disorder

Supporting Employees Affected by Substance Use Disorder is an add-on certification for current VitalCog trainers. Following the training, you will get access to this 1-hour module to present within your own organization/community/industry. By the end of this module, you will learn and be able teach others how to:
 

• Understand substance use disorder as a health condition and recognize recovery as an ongoing process that looks different for each person.
• Recognize what helps, and what gets in the way, of recovery at work, including workplace conditions, culture, and common challenges employees may face.
• Identify practical ways employers and supervisors can support employees in recovery, using compassion, clear communication, and supportive policies.
• Understand basic legal considerations and protections that apply to employees and employers when substance use or recovery is involved.
• Identify workplace accommodations and supports that can help employees stay engaged and productive
