Across the country, escalating trends in maternal morbidity and mortality continue to haunt the U.S. with tragic consequences. Colorado is experiencing many of the same trends. New Colorado Maternal Mortality Review Committee data finds that ninety percent of maternal deaths are preventable. Prevention will require the attention of providers across the state and an ongoing commitment and systems change that supports addressing the leading causes of maternal mortality and ends disparities in the maternal population.
